GrahamKing Customer asked a question. You cannot client host with these versions 14 and Any upgrade pricing will only be available 2 versions back. Call Sales to verify. We have already paid for a 3-year upgrade agreement going into or later. My question was more a technological one, whether I can do the software upgrade in one hop direectly to V18, or whether I need multiple hops.

You do this in one hop. This is the general idea, without any technical advises. This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only. Note your FileMaker Server settings In Admin Console, take screen shots of all settings in each page and tab, to keep as a record. You will apply these settings in Step 9, below. Step 3. Disconnect clients Disconnecting clients can help you locate users with lock conflicts and other issues.

To disconnect clients, use either: the Admin Console Databases page the CLI command: fmsadmin disconnect Note: Do not continue to the next step until all users have been disconnected. Close all hosted files Closing all hosted files preserves changes that users have made to the files. In Admin Console: Go to the Databases page. For All Databases , click the down arrow and choose Close All.

When all files are indicated as closed, go to the Dashboard page, and verify that all files are closed. If the steps above don’t close all hosted files, use the following CLI commands in the order shown until all files are closed: fmsadmin close fmsadmin list files C.

Create a record of other settings used by FileMaker Server Create a. It is early days as yet, but if this continues, it is unexpected. So what is going on? Yes, of course, we can spend all our time analysing hundreds of files, but actually, we’re flat out developing new systems and our own productivity is suffering badly as a result.

I personally have spent We cannot afford to travel to the US for DevCon to discuss this. Not because we can’t afford it, but we cannot support our clients in Asia due to the timezones. We would be so grateful to someone from Claris providing some technical background as to why this is happening with systems that have evolved over years and some details that maybe would allow us to target specific areas.

We have a few of our servers upgraded to FMS18 now. And I can say that there ARE changes that made one of our script schedules crawl to a halt. And killed the Scripting Engine. But after lots of analysis I must say I do wonder now how FMS17 did cope wit it in the first place since it was an rogue audit function calculated field that got hammered.

After correcting for this it now is working flawlessly. One thing I reported but since could not reproduce: One of our FM18 Servers did experience a memory leak that vanished after I shut down startup restoration. But that was the only sever we had this problem and I never dared to torn it on again – it was our in-house production server.

It would be so helpful if we had information on these changes between versions. We’re constantly working in the dark and it is just a question of whether it works or not. We’re unable to target areas where a known change has taken place and whether there are likely to be repercussions that could otherwise be predicted. It wouldn’t be so bad if we had 1 database system to look after, but 42 x annual update release isn’t manageable on ‘it may or may not work’ basis and I’m sure there are many bigger development companies out there with many more live systems to manage than we do.

A quick follow up, as I’m still waiting for a ‘Find in progress’ dialogue box to clear, having carried out a find, possibly on an unindexed field. I’ve been waiting for over 30 minutes for a find of ‘gbp’ in a text field containing the normal 3 letter international currency code.

This is on another old system, this time hosted on Windows using FileMaker Server Leading me to wonder whether the performance problems we’re having with these old systems on Windows is due to a change in indexing methods?

As the customer moved to FM14, it became terrible slow. I did not find a solution – but as we tested that very same solution under V16, it was as crispy as under That was under macOS We did run quite some solutions under v14, we never had that experience.
